The Nehemiah Project – Phase One

Through the Nehemiah Project, BCFS hopes to address the critical needs of the on-campus residential facilities. The cottages that house the youth haven’t had any major repairs or renovations since the mid-1990s. This is an issue that directly affects the children and youth here at BCFS. BCFS Prom 2017 “A Night in Disguise”
BUCKHORN – This past weekend was full of disguises as the Buckhorn Children’s Center (BCC) hosted their annual prom event. The theme for the evening was “A Night in Disguise.” The kids were encouraged to wear a masquerade mask along with their formal attire. Many of the prom dresses and shirts/ties were donated. Community members also volunteered their time and helped the ladies paint their fingernails and do hair/makeup. This was very special for the kids. “This dress from my teacher makes me feel beautiful,” one young woman said. The evening was full of fun for both the kids and the staff. Camp Mariposa: An Awesome Adventure!
Camp Mariposa was held at Buckhorn Children’s Campus on December 8-10. We had so much fun!! We started our evening by roasting hotdogs for dinner. Each camper got to roast their own hotdog over one of two campfires we started. Then we went to our cabins (because it was SOOO COLD outside) and decorated gingerbread houses, drank hot chocolate and watched Christmas movies.
